Jyply
Terms of use
Last updated October 1, 2026
The short version
Jyply is a free directory of happy hours, drink deals and events at bars and restaurants in Chicago. Using jyply.com means you agree to these terms. They're written in plain language on purpose — the wording that actually binds you is the ordinary meaning of these sentences.
What Jyply is — and isn't
Jyply is an independent listing site. We are not owned by, operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any bar or restaurant we list, unless a page says so in plain words. Venue names, logos and menu items belong to the venues that own them, and we use them only to describe what they're offering.
We don't take reservations, sell drink tickets, or take any payment. If you book, visit or spend money at a venue, that relationship is entirely between you and the venue.
How deal listings are gathered
Listings are built from publicly available information — mostly each venue's own website and social posts, and occasionally the venue telling us directly. Every listing carries the date we last checked it, and we aim to re-check each spot on a regular schedule rather than only when someone complains.
Happy hours change constantly and venues rarely announce the changes. Prices run out, days move, promotions quietly end. That means:
- Listings are provided for information only, with no guarantee they're current, complete or accurate.
- Times shown are Central Time, the local time in Chicago.
- A deal being shown on Jyply is not a promise the venue will honour it. Confirm with the venue before you travel — a quick phone call or a look at their own page is the safest check.
- We can't put a price on your evening. If you drive across town for a deal that turned out to be over, we're sorry, but that loss stays with us in the moral sense only.
If a listing looks wrong, tell us — the Report a wrong deal link under every offer sends it straight to the pile we review. We don't promise to reply to every note, but we do read them and we fix what we can confirm.
The AI concierge
The "Not sure where to go? Ask the concierge" box is an automated assistant. You describe what you're after and your budget, and an artificial intelligence model (OpenAI's GPT‑6 Astra, called through the Lovable AI Gateway that also runs the rest of this site) reads the venues currently on your screen and picks a few, each with a one-line reason.
A few things worth knowing about it:
- It can only choose from venues Jyply already lists. It's told not to invent places, and the site throws away any pick that isn't a real listing.
- The reasons are written by a model, not a person. Nobody at Jyply has tasted the margarita or sat on that patio.
- It reflects what you typed and what our listings say. If a listing is stale, a pick built on it can be stale too.
- It isn't advice about alcohol, health, safety or the law. Use your own judgement, plan a way home, and don't drink and drive.
Asking the concierge is free and optional. Each request costs us a small amount of computing, so we may add a fair-use limit if it ever gets abused.
Your account and saved spots
An account is optional and free. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for anything that happens under your sign-in. Saved spots belong to you: delete any of them at any time on the Saved page, and delete your whole account by emailing us. Favorites saved while you're not signed in live only in your own browser and are moved to your account if you sign in later.
Being decent on the site
Agreeing to these terms means you won't:
- Copy or re-publish our listings in bulk, or feed them into another directory or app, without asking first.
- Use automated tools to hammer the site, or try to break, disable or gain unauthorised access to any part of it.
- Send false, abusive, illegal or deliberately spammy reports, or pretend to be a venue you don't represent.
- Interfere with the ads or analytics that keep the site free, or block them in a way that hides our own content.
If something like that keeps happening, we may limit or close access — including signed-in accounts — while still respecting your rights over the data you gave us.
Advertising
Jyply is free, and advertising is how we intend to keep it that way. Advertisers have no ability to add, remove, rank or edit a happy hour listing, and sponsored placements are kept visually separate from deals. If that ever stops being true, this page gets rewritten first.
Content ownership
The site's design, wording, layout and the curated selection of listings are ours. Individual facts about a venue — its prices and hours — belong to the world, and we'd rather you go to the venue itself for the real thing. Ask before republishing our pages wholesale; a short quote with a link back is usually fine.
If something goes wrong
The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, Jyply isn't liable for damages arising from using it or relying on a listing, and our total liability for anything is limited to the $100 you paid us (which is nothing, because Jyply is free). That doesn't cover anything the law says can't be limited, and it doesn't apply to a venue's own conduct.
Changes, law and contact
We'll update these terms as the site grows — new cities, new features, more advertising. Material changes get a note here with a new date; keep checking this page. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago, and disputes go to their courts.
Reach us at hello@jyply.com — including if you run a venue and want a listing corrected, updated or removed.
