The short version

You can browse every deal on Jyply without an account, without signing in and without us learning your name. We don't sell personal information, we don't run third-party trackers today, and your location is only used if you tap a button that asks for it. This page spells out the details.

What we collect

Depending on how you use the site, that's some or all of the following.

Just browsing

  • The filters you use — search text, day, time, neighborhood, sort order — live in the web address of the page you're on, which is what lets you press Back and get them back. They aren't attached to you personally, and we don't log a history of them.
  • Standard server records for the pages you open (address, browser type, roughly where in the world, which page). These exist to keep the site up and catch abuse, not to build a profile of you.

Saving spots without an account

Tapping the heart while signed out stores those venue IDs in your own browser's local storage. They never reach our servers, which is why they disappear if you clear your browser data or switch phones.

Signing in

  • Your email address and, for email sign-ups, a one-way scrambled copy of your password — we never keep the password itself in readable form.
  • If you use Google, the name, email and photo Google passes back to us.
  • Your saved spots, stored against your account so they follow you between devices.

Reporting a wrong deal

The report form keeps which venue and offer you flagged, what you said was wrong, your short note, and an email address only if you choose to give one so we can reply. If you're signed in, the report is tied to your account so you can see what you sent us.

Location

"Near me" and "Use my location" ask your browser's permission first. Your coordinates are then used in your browser to measure the distance to each venue and to draw the blue dot on the map. We don't store your coordinates, we don't record a movement history, and we don't pass them to advertisers. Denying the request changes nothing else about the site.

What the AI concierge sends to its model

When you press "Pick for me", the site sends a short request to the AI service that runs this feature: what you typed as your tastes, your budget, a plain note about whether you're using location, and the factual details of the venues on your screen — name, neighborhood, price tier, cheapest drink, rough distance in kilometres, deal text, and confirmed features.

What it does not send:

  • Your name, email, phone number or account ID.
  • Your exact coordinates, or anything that identifies which person asked.
  • Your saved spots or your browsing history.

The model provider processes the request to produce an answer under a commercial agreement that keeps your inputs out of training and doesn't sell them. Jyply does not store the conversation afterwards — the picks exist on your screen and then fade away. Requests are billed to us per use, so they leave a small usage record (time, model, how long it took, how much it cost) on our side.

Cookies, ads and analytics

Today Jyply sets no advertising or analytics cookies of its own. Sign-in uses a secure session so you stay signed in.

When advertising turns on, ad partners will need cookies or similar identifiers on those ad slots so they can serve and measure campaigns, and they may be able to link that activity to their own profiles of you. When that day comes we'll list the ad partners here, add a consent prompt where the law requires one, and point you at the opt-out controls (Google Ads Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance page, and your phone's own ad tracking limits). Deals and rankings stay independent of advertisers either way.

Who else sees things

We share data with the companies that keep Jyply running: our hosting and database provider, our AI gateway for the concierge, Google for maps and directions, and — later — an ad network. Each acts on our instructions for a specific job and isn't allowed to sell your information. We'd only hand data to anyone else with your permission, or if legally required to.

How long we keep it

  • Saved spots: until you delete them.
  • Account details: until you ask us to close the account, then removed within a few days.
  • Deal reports: until the listing is corrected or the note is closed, then kept in a small archive so we can spot venues that keep getting flagged.
  • Server access records: a short rolling window.

Security

The site is served over encrypted HTTPS. Deals and accounts sit in a private database where the access rules are written per user, so a browser can only ever read its own saved spots — never anyone else's. Passwords are stored scrambled, never readable, and we don't ask for payment card details at any point. No system is perfect, and if we ever have a breach affecting your data we'll tell you.

Your choices

Email hello@jyply.com and we'll tell you what we hold about you, fix it, hand it over as a file, or delete it — including deleting your account and saved spots outright. You can do most of that yourself right now on the Saved page and in your browser settings. Where a rule requires a specific right (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and others have their own versions, plus the UK and EU for anyone here from there), the same email gets you that too, and you can ask us not to sell or share your information for advertising.

Kids

Jyply is for adults — Chicago drinking venues, after all. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we'd delete it if we learned we had.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a meaningful way we'll update the date at the top and, for bigger changes, say so more visibly. The current version always lives at this address. Write to hello@jyply.com with any question here — or with a venue correction, which honestly is the fastest way to help the site.

Questions about either page? Email hello@jyply.com.
